OK, I called the manufacturer of this eyecream. The phone rep, who said
she had no medical background, explained that the reason its use was
contraindicated was because it contains Vitamin A which could be toxic if
too much is absorbed by the body. While this is true in theory, how much
Vitamin A is there in the cream and how much is ever absorbed through the
skin??? I told her that preg. and lactating women had HIGHER Vit. A
requirements, and that maybe I shouldn't be using the cream either since
I'm neither pregnant nor lactating! She really couldn't explain it in a
meaningful way, it defies logic. If the amount might be toxic, it might
be toxic for anyone who chose to use it!! She did not have any
information about how much Vit. A the product contains.
This is strictly a CYA issue that their legal dept must have cooked up.
Oh dear.
