Dear Katherine, Jack and fellow Lactnetters,
I too wish to know what causes menses to resume rapidly.
My period returned at 10 weeks PP. I carried my son everywhere in my arms
when I was not sitting holding him in my arms. He nursed frequently and
lustfully while I was eating, sleeping, working, cleaning, walking, talking,
gardening, reading. He slept next to me in the bed and our sleeping patterns
were and remain parallel. Nothing crossed his lips except my breastmilk, no
water, no food, no ABM, no pacifier, no fingers. He always had my breasts to
suck on and did so frequently. I'm talking completely on demand, minutes
apart. I can do just about anything with babe on breast or hip that I did
pre-motherhood.
I was 34 years old when he (my first child) was born. I gained 75 pounds in
pregnancy. I was very well nourished.
Perhaps it was the weight gain or maybe it is nature's way of encouraging
more babies in an *older* primigravida?
Any studies on maternal age, number of children and resumption of menses?
