There seems to be a disturbing new trend in my area. Some breastfeeding
mothers are being sent home from the hospital after a Cesarean birth
without pain medication. Some are told to take acetaminophen, others
are told to take nothing. The moms used different physicians and
hospitals in different boroughs, sometimes the ob declined to prescribe
medication, in one case the pediatrician wrote orders that nothing be
administered to the mother, even immediately post-op. Has anyone else
come across a sudden reluctance to prescribe analgesics?
