Hi everyone,
I want to share a story and thank Dr. Hale for his wonderful book.
I was called regarding a mom 3 1/2 mon. postpartum, who needs a MRI of the
brain using Gadolinium as a contrast. She was told that she would have to
pump and dump for 3 days after the procedure.
According to Hale's book it is most likely very safe to continue to brfd but
on a conservative side one could pump and dump 24 hrs. I called and talked
to the tech. and read him the info from Hale's book, sighting the reference,
and he told me if it were his wife he would incourage her to continue to
brfd. He said they just use the package insert to make their recomendations
but was making a note on her chart.
I called the mom and choice the conservative approach but this was far more
mangable than 3 days.
Siting these references and giving the scientfic answer to these clincians
really can make a difference.
