Cynthia asks:
<< How did ILCA get this figure? Does anybody out there actually make
$25,000+?
And if that's an *average* it means some of us make much more than that?
How can that be? Are they including LCs who lecture and run courses? I
can't imagine making $25,000+ doing private practice LC work. >>
There are far more LCs in hospital than in private practice. My daughter,
brand-spanking new RN straight out of school, is making a base pay of over
$33,000/year. (She works nights, so it is higher). LCs in hospitals are
going to be paid more than a brand new grad -- I would hope!! -- so what
hospital LCs make is more than going to top out what those of us eeking along
in private practice make -- about enough to take our kids out to MacD's
periodically without going into debt. Or in my case, enough to support my
computer habit and keep the IRS from assuming I have a hobby, not a
profession.
And yes, there are some private practice RNs who will make $25,000 +.
Jan Barger, who ISN'T making $25,000+ and wonders if staff nursing is really
the way to go....
