Re soap - I have heard an eminent Australian paediatrician state that a
brand of liquid "baby bath" type soap seems to be linked to a higher rate
of ear infections. I don't understand the mechanism, but pass it on for
interest. Maybe hundreds of Lactnetters have made the same observation
and it is worth a formal study??

Katharine West's post on giving babies EBM milk baths and the amount
required reminded me of an old joke about a woman ordering milk for her
bath.  She was asked "Do you want it pasteurised?" and she replied "No,
just past my navel will do".

Perhaps this relates somehow to cord care? And why soap wars? Why not
compromise and make hindmilk soap?
