Val, this is a bit from my thesis about nipple pain:
        "When 600 women were surveyed in Aberdeen (Brockway 1986), women
with fair
and red/auburn hair were not more likely to have nipple problems than women
with brown and dark hair. Similarly, no relationship was found between skin
(fair or medium) and hair colour (blond or red, light or medium brown, and
dark brown hair) and nipple pain or trauma by Hewat and Ellis (1987).
        Interestingly, "dark skinned" women (including black women) had
significantly more pain than women with "light" or "medium" colour skin (p
=0.05) in an American study (Ziemer et al 1990). The authors find this
surprising, and hypothesized that there might be a physiologic basis for the
difference in reported pain." I went on to say I thought this was unlikely;
more likely to be due to less help with breastfeeding.

PS. I think tinc benz co is rarely used now. Purifed lanolin (or antifungal
treatment) seems more appropriate.
