Hi all,

A friend of a client has had 2 abnormal pap smears, and her doctor told her
that breastfeeding is the cause. I searched the archives, and came up with
a great post from March, 1997 by Jon Ahrendsen MD FAAFP. He mentioned the
vascularity of the cervix being a factor in biopsy of the breastfeeding
mother. Can the hormone differences in the lactating woman cause abnormal
differences in her pap smear, or is this just another case of blaming
breastfeeding for every ill? TIASharon A. Rapoza, RN, BSN, IBCLC
