dear all,

at first i thought the more serious consideration of the milk stasis topic
was a humorous followup to the mention of it during discussion of mastitis. i
recall a discussion at a recent conference about alcohol consumption, during
which it was explained that the milk in the breast is constantly being taken
back up and recreated (my best version of the more detailed explanation), so
that alcohol levels would fall with time even if the milk wasn't nursed or
pumped from the breast. i can't see how a bodily fluid in the body can
remain unchanged, but then instantly exceptions spring to mind (in the
bladder, for instance).

so, does the foremilk remain unchanged, for instance? or does all the milk
get recirculated? rather than simply assuming that the "old breastfeeding
mothers' tales" have validity because it is repeated by many, perhaps it
would be more valuable to try to look at the physiological process involved.
perhaps someone who knows more about this subject can share some knowledge.
