As always there is a question of the risk benefit ratio.  Is the use of
this drug MORE HARMFUL THAN ABM for the infant?  Is there really no
alternative medication that the physician deems breastfeeding compatible?

Medications and Mothers' Milk , 1997 edition has the following info:
Generic name- oflaxin (Ocuflox in Canada/Australia)
Not reviewed by AAP

Breastmilk concentrations equal to plasma levels.
Detectable in breastmilk, even 24 hours after a dose.
Currently under FDA review for pediatric use.

Adult concerns:  Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, GI bleeding

Pediatric concerns:  None reported, but caution recommended.  Observe for
diarrhea.
