howdy y'all,
just returned from twelve days in texas and oklahoma (barbeque - yes!) and am
already in a welter of conflicting thoughts about the new guidelines . . .
weren't they supposed to be TWO years? but the good news is that i was
apparently put back on call first thing today, and the very first call i got
this morning was from the mother of a 7 mo. old who had weaned last week and
wanted to nurse again. she said her son "missed nursing" (good eye) and
finally, that she had just read about the new guidelines and that convinced
her.
then this afternoon another mother who came by (sewing client, not lactation)
also mentioned reading the guidelines. i guess they are being noticed!
driving through cows standing in the road, i shouted out the window "Got
milk?" which amused my children greatly. then, i am proud to report, i
encouraged a cow to use her milk supply correctly when i paused for her to
walk off the road with her extremely large calf (almost a year old by now)
following her trying to nurse all the while.
