catching up on some Lactnet digest I never did get to, only 476 MORE digests
sitting in my offline mailbox and I'll be all caught up!

During childbirth prep or at the beginning of BF class, as couples are
outlining their goals for class, I hear *so* many moms say something like: "I
understand that I should get a pump because of that engorgement I'll have,
because its going to be so painful, and it's better to have a pump ahead of
time than to have to go out in the middle of the night searching for a pump
to relieve the engorgement". In class then, moms are usually reassured and
glad to hear about ways to prevent or decrease the likelihood that they will
have a problem with engorgement, and that a pump is not a mandatory piece of
equipment for every breastfeeding mother.
What do you think about people who use scare tactics to sell pumps?
