When discussing what it takes for a mother to successfully breastfeed the
word commitment is often used.  Commitment has never seemed to convey what
I believed kept me at it through five very different breastfeeding
relationships, nor what shines from the mothers I have been blessed to know
over the years...even a combination of words does not seem to convey that
inner quality.  Then, some time towards the end of July, shortly before I
spoke to a ND conference on Newborn Home Visits, on NPR's All Things
Considered a mother was describing a serendipitous moment with her children
and used the words, "deeper than a thought, stronger than a feeling."  This
clicked with me...and fit an old piece of research that I have quoted for
10+ years that said women who decide before becoming pregnant to breastfeed
usually are making an emotional decision, those who decide while pregnant
are making a logical one.   Did anyone else hear this, know the date, or
how I can find out the author?  I would love to use this quote freely.
