Hi Netters,
Paula Meier, in "Professional Guide To Breastfeeding Premature Infants" by
Ross Lab p. 6 states "Begin milk expression as soon as possible (within
hours) after birth. Pump 8 to 10 times daily for 10 to 15 minutes, and/or
until the milk flow has ceased for a few minutes." "Strive to produce more
milk than her infant will need at the time of hospital discharge (> 500
mL/day) by about 10 to 14 days postbirth.
