I seem to be forever trying to help(and glad to do it!) with this ongoing
"is it candida?" woman with the 14 mos. old. The latest tidbit: no less than
3 doctors have told her she cannot have a yeast infection because she "has to
run a fever and also have scaly nipples." Most recent doc put her on
cephalexin 500mg bid x 7d to be followed with a single dose of diflucan 150mg
"to take care of the yeast you may get from the antibiotic."
This is a new Ob/gyn to whom she asserted at the outset:"If you tell me to
stop bf as did my other docs., I am walking out of here right now." The doc
said nothing about stopping bf (smart man) Any input? She still has overall
breast pain, primarily unilateral (interesting to me, but I read in the
literature it can be one breast affected), and one reddened nipple - the
other slightly reddened. Does not want to come in for an in person
consult...all telephone still.
