Hi All!

It was with great interest that I read the posts about nursing stations at
county fairs. Our county fair just ended last night and for the fifth year
in a row, local La Leche League groups, along with the Fair Association and
4-H sponsored this baby-changing/nursing tent.

All sponsors are listed because the others like to see their names? Really,
the fair provides us with the tent, a lovely white, about 12' x 12' tent - at
no charge. The 4-H provides us with the tables and chairs, and a trash can
for disposing of soiled diapers. The LLL Groups contact local merchants for
donations of diapers and wipes - which we gratefully acknowledge in the tent,
and we check the tent several times each day during the 8 day run of the fair
to make sure it is always fully stocked. We also have some LLL literature
available.

This year, for the first time, a mother video-taped our tent. When asked why
she was doing so, she explained that her sister, in California, could not
understand her desire to breastfeed her baby and so she was sending the video
tape to prove that NJ thought so highly of breastfeeding, that we provided an
area for those mothers who felt so inclined to use it so they could get in
out of the hot sun to nurse their babies!

Its fun work, and a great way for us to spend World Breastfeeding Week!

Warmly,
Sheila Angalet
