Now, maybe I just don't understand, but I thought, that besides the colostrum
having a laxative effect, that the whole elimination system shifted at about
4 to 6 weeks.
First weeks, babies seem to have a suck / poop syndrome (if that's the word
for it). They suck and within seconds or minutes ... out the other end.
Then, what I reasoned with my limited anatomical knowledge, was that the
muscles that would control the bowel movements for life, developed and at
first actually seems extreme, because baby strains and pushes and frets as if
constipated ... and then out comes a soft-as-ever stool.
Thought it was all about intestinal development.
Tell me if I have been making this up.... to describe the phenomenom of days
of no stooling and apparent, but not real, constipation.
Tell me, Docs.

Thank you,
