The mom's lactose intolerence was probably triggered by overindulgence in
dairy which is partly caused by the WIC programs provision of lots of milk,
and cheese, and the mother's enthusiasm for other dairy products. The
nursing has nothing to do with mom's intolerence, but she ought to watch
the baby for signs of milk allergy. Things like, gas, eczema, pimples,
colic, etc may be caused by the uptake of large bovine proteins from the
mother's intestine which get into brmilk. M. Scott, RD, IBCLC in New
Hampshire where I work for WIC!
