You were asking for JCAH requirements in regard to breastfeeding. We
just completed our survey for
accreditation (with an unofficial result of 95%, everyone very pleased)
and I was actually quite disappointed
to see their only interest was in regard to nutrition for the
breastfeeding mother. They did not look at any
policies, care plans, or charts of breastfeeding mothers. Their
statement to my head nurse was that many
breastfeeding mothers do not have adequate nutrition for lactation so
they want us to provide them all with
dietary guidelines for nutrition during lactation. Hope this helps. Mary
