Laurie, you asked if there was some new statement from the US Government on
this. Unfortunately, I think there may be. A few weeks ago in the
Washington Post Health section there was a mention of a new gov't website
that talked about SIDS and the "article" (really just a paragraph) said that
the site specifically mentioned co-sleeping as a risk. I had every
intention of looking it up and finding out what it *really* said - I was
fairly sure that there was more to it - but alas, I did not. I believe I
may have been protecting myself from getting "lit up" at the time. :D
I have searched the WPost archives on-line but they only go back 14 days :(
and this article was probably from early October.
Sorry I don't have time to hunt down the gov't site but I am sure that
someone on this list will be able to find it! I *think* (but am not sure)
that the site sponsor is NICHD?
If I remember the wording correctly, the statement led me to believe that
someone was theorizing rather than basing recommendations on actual
observations. *That* would be new <heavy sarcasm>.
Back to lurking..... wish I had more time to talk with y'all!
