Hi all,
I just had a LLL leader call me with a question I am unable to answer.
The mother is currently in her third pregnancy due late October. Her
first pregnancy ended in a stillbirth. In her second pregnancy, she
developed HELLP syndrome 2 days before her due date and had an emergency
C-section. The mother explained the HELLP syndrome to the leader as her
body reacting as if the baby were already born and was trying to expel
the placenta, so I wonder if she also had abruptio placentae. She is now
currently nursing her 2 year old. This third pregnancy had been a twin
pregnancy, but she miscarried one of the twins in March and is still
carrying the other twin. Her question is what effect, if any, would
continuing to nurse her toddler have on her risks of developing HELLP
syndrome again? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
TIA,
