I am posting this on behalf of a fellow counselor who does not have
computer access. She is counseling a mom with a 3 month old baby. Mom
just had surgery (brain) on 11/5. Surgery went well and mom has no side
effects. However she is on multiple meds post surgery. Currently
taking:
phenobarbital 30 mgs 2x/day for 3 days, then 1x/day for 3 days
dilantin 100mgs 4x/day
decadron 4 mgs 2x/day for 3 days, then 1x/day for 3 days
also tylenol w/codeine as needed (not often)
The only real question at this point is the decadron, although the
combination may also pose additional problems. Do we have any
documentation for this mom?
She is currently pumping and holding the milk to verify its safety.
(Yeah! NOT dumping) She is trying to re-build her supply after the meds
they gave her in hospital to lower her fluid level throughout her body
(which also lowered her milk supply).
I am aware many are on their way to the Mass conference, probably
including Hale and Newman. (I can hear Dr. Jack saying not to sacrifice
already). Anything will help. Thanks in advance.
