hi,
i've been no mail b/c i'm addicted to lactnet and spending way
toomuch time w/ it. :) but i'm doing my week stint on the LLL phone lines
this week and have already gotten 2 calls about prozac (fluoxetine) and
zoloft (maybe zolaft- mom wasn't sure of spelling). i called our
professioanl liasion and she told me what was in the uspdi and ruth
lawrence's book, but the moms wouldlike more info.
i can't access the archives from home- anybody out there remember
what's come up concerning these anit-depressants and nursing? please
e-mail me directly sinc ei'm sure this subject has been beaten to death.
one mom is due oct 7th and her dr has her on zoloft but says she
absolutely can't nurse on it; her LC recommended prozac, dr said he
wouldn't prescribe and urges her not to nurse as 'it would be too tiring
for her condition.' other mom has a 1 yr old how aburptly stopped nursing
a week ago- mom called b/c she thinks she's getting a breast infection.
she wants to start nursing but her internist just put her on prozac for a
condition that he has been urging her to wean for over 6 months- said he
woudlnt' prescribe if she were still nursing. she is mourning the end of
nursing as this is their last child and wants teh child to help
alleviate/prevent breast infections/ plugged ducts etc. child was nurisng
2xs a day- dose for mom is 20 mg once daily. any suggestions? thanks in
advance!! deborah danzeiser
