What has happened here is that no one can get a patent on cabbage, so what
pharmaceuticals companies do is make a "unique" mixture and then they can
sell it as a manufactured product. There is no advantage of this mixture of
substances.
Since there can not be a patent on a natural substance, this kind of thing
is what is done. And it is the reason that there will never be a "study" on
fenugreek or blessed thistle or many of the herbals that we have so many
questions about. The only folks who have the money and economic interest in
such studies are the phar. companies and they fund only what will ultimately
be to their advantage--patents and income.
Meanwhile they will keep the medical comunity nervous about using these
"untested" substances. If it is up to them (and it is) they will never be
tested.
