The most recent recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics
encourages breastfeeding through diarrheal illnesses with rehydration
solutions only if the baby is actually dehydrated (and then only to
rehydrate) and resume nursing as soon as possible. I don't have the issue
number, but it was published in Pediatrics- the official journal of the
Academy and should be easy to find.
