I'm nomail, so if anyone wishes to comment back to me please email me

anyone seen Baby Talk for June/July? Target has them for free and the
good nws
is Dr Marianne Neifert has an extensive article on Breastfeeding Made
Easy in
it. THe bad news IMHO, is that it starts off "Despite her best efforts,
at
some point nearly every nursing mother will encounter trouble.
Breastfeeding
expert Dr. Mom offers effective solutions to ten common breastfeeding
problems."

That may have been the editor talking--it is after the title and before
the
author's name. BUt, then the article goes on

I"m going to let you in on a little secret: Breastfeeding may be the
natural
way to feed your baby, but it doesn't always come naturally."

Actually the back of the LLL catalog says something similar about it not
coming naturally, but particularly after rereading Diane Weissingers
wonderful
article "Watch Your Language," I find this approach bothersome.

Can't help wonder if bottlefeeding articles start out "nearly every mom
will
encounter trouble," and "sucking a bottle does not come naturally, so
lets
talk about all the problems you may have..." :'<

And of course, this (mature?) mom is pictured in a batiste nightgown
(blouse?)
and no makeup (not that she looks bad, mind you, she is wearing her
pearl
earrings :') ) which the BestStart people say is typical of "you have
to stay
home in your nightie to breastfeed"

And on p 23 it takes them half a page(different article) to explain why
potatoes don't come in jars for babies "My 6 mo old loves white
potatoes, but
i/ve found that baby food co's dont offer them. are they bad for
babies?"
It makes me sad to see yet *again* how brainwashed our society is.
Potatoes
are cheap and easy to mash, thats why they dont come in jars (though for
the
truly harried, they do come as flakes...)

And the ad on p 72--if they cant sell you ABM for your baby, they'll
sell
"formula" for YOU (YES IM SHOUTING) BABY BUILDERS SUPPORTS YOUR DECISION
TO
BREASTFEED If you are expecting or nursing, your babys health comes
from you
(ad for protein supplement, gag, gag, quoting the National Research
Council
numbers, to infer that the NRC supports this...) Websit is
www.babybuilders.com if someone has time to check it (I don't have
WEB...)

also if anyone is on lactivist and could forward this i'd appreciate
it--I
just unsubscribed to go on vacation. TIA Frances Sturgess
