This is Rachel Davis mom asked that I send this to you until she is able to
write you herself. I didn't know if you want to post this to Lactnet.
After months of telling the doctor that she was still ill (she had massive
sepsis in May), mom asked another doctor to run some tests. Unfortunately she
was right--she is still sick, very sick.
Mom spent the weekend in the hospital once again. She has sepsis (Bacteria in
the blood) again. They have not identified the bacteria. It is some type of
gram negative rods, a different infection from what she had in May. This is
really bad news for all of us.
Mom is home on IV antidiotics but going back and forth to the hospital for
further testing. Our biggest worry is that the bacteria is lodged in the
bone. If so that means they will have to remove the artificial parts for one
year. We're not going to think about that for right now. We just want her to
get better.
Rachel
