Dear Lactnetters:
I previously posted a question about a mom with chronic low supply whose
MD was hesitant to keep ordering Reglan; on Reglan her supply increased
dramatically, but it dropped again as soon as she stopped. After 2
prescriptions, she is no longer taking it. The baby is now 5 months old.
He nurses well and there would be no problem except that mom has to work
three `12 hr shifts a week. She has not been able to produce enough to
provide all his milk when she works. The baby has been dx with a milk and
soy allergy. He is now on a predigested milk formula (very expensive!). I
suggested she try Fenugreek, but she has not used it for long, so we don't
yet know the results. When she is not working she nurses exclusively.
Baby is growing just fine. She asked me to see if any of you have any
other ideas which could help her have enough milk to stop supplementation.
Thank you. Anne Stiller, RNC, BSN, IBCLC
