I have recently seen a woman who was from Brazil and who's baby is 8 weeks
old. She told me that she developed mastitis twice and was told by her
Brazilian doctor to place a clump of Riccota cheeze over the mastitic area
and let it sit there until it ran off. This was also recommended in a book
she had, written in Portuguese called Consultorio Pediatrico by Dr's Goebel
and Glockler. She swore it worked like a charm, why I don't know. Has
anyone else heard of this ?
Also she had a deep fissure at the base of her nipple which had healed.
Apparently, is was quite deep and bled alot. She was told by her Brazilian
pediatrician to use Calendula Essence gel ( it's a flower) on it and
continued to nurse throughout, it healed very well. Has anyone else had
experience with this ?
By the way, this woman's latch technique was one of the worst I've every
seen, it's a miracle that her nipple healed at all.
