Anne,

The very first and until recently only Baby Friendly hospital in the U.S.
 was Evergreen in Washington State.  Now,  I have learned from Lactnet
that our very own Kaiser of Hawai'i has finally gotten its certification.
 There are many hospitals in the process of becoming certified.  It is a
long process because of the policies that have been followed for years
which need to be changed, which is not easy for any institution, plus the
education of its staff on breastfeeding.
