Another LC wants me to put this out to Lactnetters. Client breastfed her
baby for 3 months, weaned without problem 6 weeks ago. Yesterday morning
she awoke with severe burning pain in one breast, mainly in lower half, but
radiating to sternum. She had no yeast problems within the 3 month period
and has no vaginal yeast now, nor are her nipples sore.

LC's question is can intraductal yeast develop without a baby on the
nipples. How could it develoop at this time? What else could cause such
burning pain?

OB is treating with Diflucan and it will be interesting to see if the
burning is resolved. LC didn't know if woman had a history of yeast infection.
