I had a similar case to the small 10 mo old. It was an 8 mo old not gaining
well last few mos (doubled b.w. then gained 1 lb last 2 mos). Developmentally
fine, active, busy, easily distracted, healthy, mother VERY PETITE. Dr.
advised increase solids, but baby not very interested. How can you increase
solids when child won't take them? We discussed situation more and I found
out:
mom feels supply is good, has letdowns, baby feeds quickly but "empties"
breast
pacifier use - yes, minimal
sleeps through 9p - 6a
The mom will try stop pacifier, nurse in quiet place if possible to prolong
daytime feeds, and add 1 feeding before mom's bedtime (wake baby - mom feels
babe will go right back to sleep), follow wt closely. Some of this may help
with the 10 mo old.
Any other advice?
