The reference you are after re lithium and breastfeeding is :Schou M.
Lithium Treatment during Pregnancy, Delivery, and Lactation: An Update J
Clin Psychiatry 1990;51:410-413
This reference states that lithium is not absolutely contraindicated in
breastfeeding but that the advantages of breastfeeding need to be weighed
against the potential disadvantages of the drug for the infant.
There is also a case report in the latest Academy of Breastfeeding News and
Views describing the successful use of this drug in a breastfeeding women.
