Dear Cindy,
With 2 ADHD and 1 ADD children living in our household, I too went in search
of information and education about this disorder. I now have a very thick
folder of information plus several videos. My most informative piece that
helped me understand and help these children was 2 videos: (1) "1-2-3 Magic!"
and (2)" All About Attention Deficit Disorder" this is a 2-set volume. Both
videos are by Dr, Thomas W. Phelan. If you would like cost and ordering
information, I would gladly e-mail it to you. Some libraries have these
videos. You may wish to check there
Also, there is an national chapter called CHADD, Children and Adults with
Attention Deficit Disorder.
When I first heard the ADHD diagnosis, I remember thinking what do I do now;
where do I go from here; what does ADHD mean for this child's ability to
learn, to function in society; is he mentally retarded; When the second and
third child was dx ADD, I can remember thinking: has this doctor lost his
mind or have/will I lost/loose mine!
