I think this incident graphically illustrates the unfortunate tendency to
slam viewpoints we disagree with, and take for granted (or ignore) opinions
that support our own positions.
Case in point: I've read a lot of letters on Lactnet lately that were sent to
Betsy Hart, slamming her for her article on California's breastfeeding law.
(No flame intended---the article was terrible, and the letters wonderful---I
agreed with every word my fellow Lactnetters wrote.)
Arianna Huffington wrote a wonderful article on the same subject. I haven't
seen a flood of fan mail posted on Lactnet. I can only hope that Ms.
Huffington's mailbox is bursting with private e-mails.
