Just received my October edition of Focus on the Family magazine ( it
takes a little longer to get to Costa Rica, I guess.) I noticed that on
Wed. - Fri., Oct. 29 - 31, the theme for the radio broadcast will be
"Parenting Basics: The First Year." We don't get FOF in English here,
and the spanish version doesn't necesarily follow the English calendar.
I would LOVE to hear what Dr. Dobson's medical panel has to say about
breastfeeding and infant care -- especially as far as the issue of
"spoiling" goes. This is how the programs are billed: "A panel of
experts from Focus on the Family's Physician Resource Council joins Dr.
Dobson for a lighthearted discussion of the serious issues of raising a
newborn baby. You'll learn more about the joys and trials of being a
parent."
I do know that Focus on the Family has a letter about the
Ezzo material which incates disagreement with some of their principles
in a rather inocuous manner. However, they have never wholeheartedly
supported Dr. Sears either. (I am a tremendous fan of Dr. Dobson,
though).
If anyone happens to listen to these broadcasts, I'd really
appreciate a note telling me your impressions. TIA
By the way, on the issue of *support* groups: I used to
have a Christian breastfeeding support program which I called "Mothers
Inviting Loving Comfort." We billed it as an "encouragement group."
Congratulations to all you new IBCLC's!
