Just thought I'd share a personal story. Child #1 weighed 7 lbs, 13 oz at
birth. I breastfed her through my pregnancy with Child #2, who weighed 9
lbs, 15 oz at birth. I tandem nursed both until Child #1 weaned at age 6.
At that point, Child #1 weighed forty pounds. Child #2, who was only 3
years old (and continued to nurse) weighed forty pounds.
I like to tell this story whenever a health care professional cautions me
that breastfeeding during pregnancy or tandem nursing causes irreparable harm
to the younger child.
Best wishes,
Rita
