I am writing to ask if there are any preferable methods of anesthesia
for a mother of 8 who must have a hernia repair surgery. Baby is 5
months old, mother has frozen breast milk to give for one day after
surgery. Are there specific meds. that are preferable for general
anesthesia during surgery, in terms of how long the drug will stay in
the mother's system? Must she pump and dump? How long after she
wakes? I have heard that there are some meds that would be better than
others, but cannot recall which ones.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.
