I need some ideas--I am working with a two week old baby who was born with
bumps on his lower gum. Two incisors erupted over the next two days.
When he tries to feed it obviously hurts him and he has grooves on the
underside of his tongue. When his mother tried finger feeding, he again
withdrew and actually was bleeding from under the tongue. The tip of his
tongue appears quite ragged. He is presently getting EBM by bottle and
appears to be pulling his tongue back to avoid further trauma. Any
suggestions gratefully received. By the way, two paediatric dentists
both agreed that these teeth should NOT be removed--they are primary and
removal could cause orthodontic problems later. Eileen Shea, BSc, IBCLC
