Here in Latin America, we have been seeing some things that may be trends
or not, but we might want to look into them. Earlier this year, we saw the
introduction of a formula for mothers, which I also saw when I went to China.
In addition, there has been promotional literature on some new brands that
are "bio", supposedly responding to all of the "complaints" that we have
about formula... I still don't know how much they cost, but the literature
is out. I haven't seen anything in Honduras, but Brazil, a really big
market for a developing country, seems to be on the cutting edge of some of
this or perhaps our Brazilian colleagues are more conscious.
Along with the probable upcomig "scare" stories, let's look for new product
lines, and, of course, the increase in "house brands" to make formula more
of a "bargain" for families living on a tight budget.
