HI All -
This is along the lines of what to say instead of the *milk comes in* (
a personal pet peeve) line. Any on-base criticism/refinements will be
gladly accepted. (The difference in the Lipdance contributing to the
intake of more hind milk rather than eliminating air intake was/is very
much appreciated, thank you to that contributing person). I like to be
factual.

So, this is what i say and it's purely my logic to express to mom's the
importance of feeding early and often:
The milk you have now is colostrum. It is full of immunities and is
perfect for your baby. Over the next two to five days you will
experience an increase in the amount of milk you produce, but right now
your baby is learning to suck at the breast. So, nature has colostrum
available in a slower flow, for baby to practice, and practice - before
a deluge is there. If you nurse frequently you can minimize the extra
fullness, later. Waking baby, and nursing again, is OK/good if you feel
your milk increasing.

This is part of the initial in the hospital baby is ready for discharge
(24-48 hrs old) talk. If baby is older/mom is already uncomfortably full
that's a different approach.

Alright - any flaws? This is so nice to be able to put stuff out here
like this. Also, at one training I heard that all mint teas work to
diminish breast milk supply. I heard this after years of personally
nursing and drinking mint teas frequently. I never noticed any lack of b
milk supply.
