I have a young mom who delivered a ~27weeker by classical C-section for
severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. She had hoped for a natural,
intervention-free, fullterm delivery but unfortunately things happened
and she delivered early at the tertiary care center where I work. Baby
is now considered a feeder and grower and is going to breast 1-2x/day as
mom lives far away. He`s nursing fairly well-better than bottle feeding,
of course! We`ve discussed water rebirthing as a way to reconcile her
birth experience and to assist with breastfeeding. Does anyone have any
references, articles, anecdotals that I can share with this mom? Mom is
bonding beautifully with the baby, but is gently grieving over the loss
of this and future vaginal births.
Thanks, Lisa RNC,IBCLC
