Frenula/um...I have to agree that this is a major cause of difficulty.
However, I also know where the oral surgeon may be coming from.  Every
single person in my family and my husband's family had a tight upper
frenulum---until they fell and split their lips as children.  It is
somewhat inevitable...children fall...they even bleed.  Well, after years
of doing various activities, most separate the upper frenulum.  Each adult
in our families can even show you the little scar.  That doesn't help the
immediate problem with bf, but it does explain the difference of opinion
between the ped and OS.  Now, I do know someone (my co-Leader) who had to
have this surgically removed, so maybe she'll jump into this thread.
