Well, call me bold, but I carry around our LLL magnets with meeting times,
info, and LLLL phone numbers. Whenever I see a pregnant woman I say (with
a big friendly smile), "Oh you might need this before and/or after your
baby arrives. Hang onto it just in case--you never know what may happen.
My co-Leader and I would be happy to talk with you, visit you or have you
attend our meetings." Not once have I been rebuffed and this has resulted
in many babies being bf who otherwise wouldn't have. Even moms who say,
"Oh I breast fed my other 64 kids with no problems." Guess what, number 65
is the one who has thrush or is sleepy and FTT, etc. so we get a panicked
call. No, I don't go door to door, but I'm never without some info on
hand. My co-Leader and I make sure they know that we offer unconditional
support (which isn't always easy given some of the decisions women make or
fail to make). Yes, we do post all over town, but that's not the same as
having a friendly face to connect with a name. Some of you might say that
I'm a breastfeeding evangelist (at least it sounds better than zealot). :)
