A mother with irritation to her inner eyelids called me asking about using
these eye drops while nursing her 5 month old. I can't find them listed. I
assume the effect is local but what the doc said scared her.

Ophthamologist told her it was okayed for use in a 2 year old but added that
he wasn't sure she should breastfeed while taking it because "you know what
kind of effect cocaine can have systemically when used on a mucous
membrane..." So even though these are used in the eyes he had reservations.

The drug is a mast cell inhibitor and inhibits in vivo type I immediate
hypersensitivity reactions.

Any problems with her using them? Thanks.
