Hi All,
I agree with Jay's assessment that we all have to evaluate what will work
with each client that we see. My only concern with all the different tools
available to us is that, especially in the hospital setting is that they
are used to quickly. At our hosptial we don't have access to nipple
shields or SNS systems. If there is a LC consult than one of us can
evaluate and plan the course that is best for the breastfeeding couplet.
This has greatly decreased the number of couplets that were given nipple
shields for- sleepy baby, inappropriate positioning, and in general a
"quick fix" for whatever reason.
Now I have to ask a question and show my ignorance. What is a P Syringe? I
have heard of a Orthodontic syringe is this the same? How would I obtain
one to try out?
Thanks for the info. I think that this discussion is what Lactnet is all
about. I am always learning to look at something in a new way after reading
everyone's ideas.
