We just finished a discussion last week on doxycycline.  There is no
reason the mother has to stop breastfeeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tetracycline
is not a contraindication to breastfeeding.

Of course there are alternatives.  There is almost no medication for
which there is not an alternative.  An alternative to a drug for the
treatment of something we know not what we are treating, is no treatment
at all.  Almost anything you can treat with tetracycline, you can also
treat with erythromycin, almost.  Erythromycin is *not* contraindicated
during lactation either.
