This is a response I received from World Vision when I recently inquired
about their infant feeding policies-
> Dear Ms. Cleveland:
>
> Thank you for your interest in World Vision health progams. World
> Vision is opposed to the use of infant formula being distributed
> overseas because of the harmful effects to children in third world
> countries. It has been our policy to encourage an even longer period
> of breast feeding in the best interests of both child and mother.
>
> It has been pointed out to me by Randy Strash, who oversees some of
> our work in Africa, that their is a strong link between breast feeding
> and successful birth spacing.
>
> It has always been the mission of World Vision to try to prevent much
> of the child mortality occuring on a daily basis in these countries.
> Through such simple things as vaccinations and training mothers in
> oral rehydration therapy, some results have been achieved. Much more
> remains to be accomplished, however.
>
> The partnership of World Vision consists of our donors, our workers
> and the poor as equal participants. We trust in God to accomplish our
> efforts according to His will. May Godly richly bless you in all your
> ministry endeavors.
