Most premature babies do *not* need fortifiers or anything else added to
their milk. This is yet another case of pediatricians falling for the
line of formula companies. Most babies over 1500 grams can do without
anything except their mother's milk. Even much smaller they can do
without breastmilk diluters (fortifiers--not)

The Canadian Pediatric Society is a marketing arm of the formula
companies and should be ashamed of its actions over the past few years.

You can still get banked milk in Canada at the Vancouver milk bank. But
you could get milk from American banks if you needed it.

Using powdered formula to add to breastmilk is risky because of the very
high solute load that the baby might be getting.
