Hi all,

I have a good one. Mom called peds office because baby was vomiting (9
month old). and was told by the nurse to stop breastfeeding and give
pedialite.

I questioned the ped about this advice and she said that it was ok
because sometimes babies can keep the pedialite down and not breastmilk.
Then she said that she was sick with the flu(she did look sick) and it
was not that important! I think it is so I copied some info from
Breastfeeding and Human Lactation and sent them to her. This same ped
told new patents that a 3 day old baby should have 10-12 wet diapers!
Needless to say these parents were very distraught when their baby "only"
have 3 voids and 2 poops. We asked the doctor to correct this miss info
and she ammended her recommendation to 6-8 voids ARRRR. We do have a
responsibility to educate these people for the greater good.

Jane-in beautiful 65 and sunny N.H.
